A. E. Funk to School District 3 - Brooks School Lot

W. B. M. Brooks and George E. Wilcox deeded this school site on 12 Aug 1889 to the trustees of District 3 near Brooks Station. Then A. E. Funk deeded the site on which the school was built to its trustees on 1 Mar 1898. That deed is transcribed below.


Bullitt County Deed Book 32, Pages 258-259

This deed made and entered into by and between A. E. Funk and Eugenia Funk, his wife of the first part, and H. R. Sanders, Jacob F. Koch and H. C. Hogland, trustees of Common School District No. 3 and their successors in office, parties of the second part.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $12 cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the parties of the first part have bargained and sold and hereby conveys and deliver to said second parties and their successors in office the following described lot or parcel of land lying nd being in the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky, bounded as follows.

Beginning in the line between Wilcox and Brooks S 2° West 42 1/2 poles from stone, corner to the Christian J. Sanders' tract and 30 feet North 67 West in Wilcox and Brooks line, thence with same N 67° W 9 1/2 poles to a stone, thence N 8° East 4 poles to a stone, thence N 86° East 9 poles to a stone, thence S 2° West 8 1/5 poles to the beginning, contining 1 rood and 17 poles upon which the school house in said school district now stands.

To have and to hold the said lot of land with the school house thereon to the said trustees of said school district and their successors in office for the use and benefit of said common school district.

It is agreed between the parties hereto that if at any time this school house and premises ceases to be used as a school house, and for school purposes, then the same is to revert to the party of the first part.
