Fidler & Phips to George Markwell - 50 Acres

On 26 Nov 1817, Martin Fidler & William Phips sold 50 acres on the waters of Old Man's Run, a branch of Floyd's Fork northeast of Mt. Washington to George Markwell, as shown below.

This indenture made this 26 day of November 1817 between Martin Fidler and his wife Judah Fidler of the county of Bullitt and William Phips of the county of Jefferson of the one part and George Markwell of the other part.

Witness that the said Martin Fidler, Judah his wife and William Phips for and in consideration of the sum of $54 current money of Kentucky to them in hand paid by the said George Markwell, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Martin Fidler and Judah his wife and William Phips have given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said George Markwell, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying, and being in Bullitt County and state aforesaid on the waters of Old Man's Run, a branch of Floyd's Fork, and containing by survey 50 acres, being a part of David Leitch's survey of 14,000 acres and bounded as follows to wit.

Beginning at a maple and three dogwoods, corner to Elishu Risley, and running thence South 10° West 148 poles to an ash, white oak, and black oak and ironwood, another corner to said Risley's land, thence North 88° West 52 1/2 poles to two dogwoods, black oak, and ash trees corner to Worden Pope, now belonging to James Risley, thence North 10° East 155 poles to three hickory trees, another corner to said Pope which is now James Risley's, thence South 80° East 52 1/2 poles to the beginning.

To have and to hold the said land and premises and all, and singular belonging to the same unto him that said George Markwell, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns forever. And the said Martin Fidler, Judah his wife and William Phips doth covenant and agree to warrant and defend said land and premises against themselves and their heirs or assigns, and against all and every other person or persons forever for his the said George Markwell's own proper use, benefit and behoof. In witness whereof he the said Martin Fidler and Judah his wife and William Phips have set their hands and affixed their seals this day and date above written. (signed by grantors)
