J. B. English to May Moore and W. C. Piatt - 208 Acres

On 20 May 1872, pursuant to a court petition for division of land, a commissioner was appointed to deed this tract from J. B. English to W. C. Piatt and May Moore as shown below.

This deed made an entered into this __ day of May 1872 between J. B. English and Maggie his wife by R. J. Meyler, commissioner, of the first part and W. C. Piatt and May Moore of the second part.

Witnesseth, whereas on 8 August 1871 a petition was filed in the Bullitt County Court in the name of the first and second parties for division of land jointly owned by each in this county, and in said suit judgment of division was entered and commissioners duly appointed to make the division who on the 27th day of December 1871 met on the land and divided the same, and said division then made was duly confirmed by said court and the commissioner herein appointed to make conveyance. In said division there was allotted to the second party the land herein conveyed.

Now therefore the first party by the commissioner aforesaid hereby sell, convey and confirm unto the second party the following tract of land, to wit.

Lot No. 1 we allotted to William C. Piatt and May Moore, and bounded as follows. Beginning at an elm on the bank of Salt River above the [?] corner to H. O. Maraman, thence with his line South 10 1/2° West 39 poles to a stake, thence South 22 1/2° East 131 poles to a forked red oak in James Moore's line, thence with the same South 61° West 22 3/4 poles to a red oak, a division corner made between Lots 2 and 3 in the division between Frank Maraman's heirs, thence with said division line North 36 3/4° West 127 poles to a stake, thence North 43° West 167 1/3 poles to a stake in a gut or hollow, thence North 76° West 20 poles to a sycamore and willow on the bank of Salt River, division corner to James B. English's lot, thence up Salt River and binding thereon at low water mark and with Joseph Chaddic's line 7 feet up the bank to the beginning, containing 208 acres.

To have to hold said tract of land unto them the said parties of the second party forever; and the first parties will warrant the title to said tract of land against all claims to the extent of the authority given the commissioner herein to warrant the title, not incurring individual responsibility.
