Basil Crow to John Kitchen - 175.5 Acres

On 6 Jun 1815, Samuel Crow, as attorney for Basil Crow, sold 175.5 acres of land along Crooked Creek to John Kitchen as shown below. Then on 25 Oct 1815, Samuel and Elizabeth Crow appear to have sold the same tract of land to John Kitchen, who then sold the land to Wilford Lee three days later on 28 Oct 1815.

This indenture made this sixth day of June in the year of our Lord 1815 between Samuel Crow, the attorney in fact of Basil Crow, of the county of Bullitt and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and John Kitchen of the same county and Commonwealth of the other part.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him the said Samuel Crow, attorney as aforesaid in hand paid by the said John Kitchen, the receipt whereof he does hereby acknowledged, he hath bargained, sold, aliened, released, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said John Kitchen the following tract of land lying and being in the county aforesaid on the waters of Crooked Creek containing 175 1/2 acres, be the same more or less, and bounded as followeth (to-wit).

Beginning at William Shain's corner of poplar and white oak, thence with his line N 5° W 259 poles to a white oak, thence N 25° E 48 poles to a white oak and beech, thence N 76° E 48 poles to two white oaks, thence South 10° E 11 poles to Collings' corner of two white oaks and a poplar and course continued with Collings and Purcell's lines in all 310 poles to Simmons' corner of two beeches, thence with Simmons' line S 85° W 110 poles to the beginning to him the said John Kitchen, his heirs and assigns forever.

And the said Samuel Crow, attorney as aforesaid, doth hereby covenant promise and agree to and with the said John Kitchen, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns that the said land shall remain free and clear of and from all claim of him the said Basil Crow, his heirs and assigns and all persons claiming or to claim the same by, through, from or under them, but it is expressly understood that the said Crow, his heirs and assigns are not to be in any wise liable or responsible if the land or any part thereof should be taken or covered by any adverse conflicting land claim. In testimony whereof the said Samuel Crow, attorney in fact as aforesaid, hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this day and date above written.
