On 17 Mar 1860, a part of Shepherdsville lot #41 was sold at auction to John Mooney by R. J. Meyler as court commissioner following an equity suit in Circuit Court, as described below. The sale also included a part of lot #25 that had been used by R. H. Field as an office.

Whereas on the 17th day of March 1860, a petition in equity was filed in the Bullitt Circuit Court in the name of John Mooney, plaintiff, against Coleman Samuels, N. Levi & Co., Henry Trunnell, H. C. Crist and others, defendants, to foreclose a mortgage held by said Mooney and others against the property hereinafter conveyed and the court did by its decree rendered on the 26th day of April 1862, order a foreclosure of said mortgage and directed a sale of the two houses and lots mortgaged and mentioned in the pleadings and petition, and appointed Westley Phelps a commissioner to sell the property aforesaid, and said commissioner did on the 16th day of June 1862, being County Court day, after advertising as directed in the decree, sell at public auction at the courthouse door in Shepherdsville the two houses and lots aforesaid, and John Mooney being the highest and best bidder became the purchaser of said tow houses and lots, at the sum of $450, and said commissioner's report was on the __ day of __ 186_ confirmed by order of court and on the 16th day of April 1866, R. J. Meyler was appointed a commissioner to convey tho the purchaser Mooney the property aforesaid.
Now this indenture made and entered into this 18th day of April 1866 by and between Samuels, Levy & Co., alias Coleman Samuels, Nathan Levi and Co., by R. J. Meyler, commissioner, of the first part, and John Mooney of the second part.
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises, decree, sale, purchase, payment of purchase money &c the parties of the first part, by the commissioners aforesaid, have this day bargained and sold and by these presents do convey unto the party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever by this deed of general warranty to following described property, to wit.
The store lot of ground in Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, formerly owned by Thixton and Hornbeck, being part of lot No. 41 in the new plan of Shepherdsville, in the corner of Main and Second Streets, and contains 55 feet front running back 72 feet 8 inches less 17 feet front sold off the south side of said part of lot No 41 to L. Hoglan by J. P. Weller, leaving of said lot No. 41 only 38 feet front, running back 72 feet 8 inches, hereby conveyed.
Also the office lot and house formerly owned by R. H. Field lying in Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, and bounded as follows.
Beginning at a point 39 feet 4 inches north from the northwest corner of the clerk's office of the Bullitt County and Circuit Court, running thence with Main Street 83 feet 4 inches to the corner of Joseph Collier's lot, thence east with said Collier's line 85 feet 3 inches to lot now owned by A. H. Field, thence south with said Field's line 84 feet to E. H. McCormick's line, thence in a direct line west to the beginning.
To have and to hold the two above described houses and parcels of land to him the said John Mooney and to his heirs forever.
