On 16 Jan 1826, John Collett sold half of his 781 acre tract in northwestern Bullitt County to Isaac, Elizabeth, and Nicholas Smith as shown on this drawing. Later, Nicholas deeded his share to Isaac and Elizabeth as shown further down this page.

This indenture made this 16th day of January in the year of our Lord 1826 between John Collett and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Shelby and State of Kentucky of the one part and Isaac Smith and Elizabeth Smith, heirs of Abraham Smith, deceased, and Nicholas Smith, all of the County and State aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said John Collett and his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $250 to them in hand paid, the receipt thereof they do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and convey unto the said Isaac Smith and Elizabeth Smith and Nicholas Smith and their heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of land, situate lying and being in the County of Bullitt and state aforesaid, and on the waters of Knob Creek and is the half of 781 acres which was conveyed by John Riley to said John Collett and bounded as follows, to wit.
Beginning at the most southwardly corner of Riley's original survey of 7031 1/4 acres at a white oak and two chestnut trees standing on the east side of a knob and running thence N 45° W 625 poles to two white oaks and black oak on the point of a ridge, thence N 45° E 100 poles to a stake, thence S 45° E 625 poles to a stake in the original line aforesaid 7031 1/4, running thence S 45° W 100 poles to the beginning, containing the full quantity of 390 1/2 acres.
To have to to hold the said tract of land forever with its appurtenances, and the said John Collett and Elizabeth his wife by these presents do warrant and defend said tract of land against any claim of themselves or their heirs, but from no other person or persons whatsoever.
