Bowmans to Andon Gild - 72 Acres

On 10 Aug 1874, Andon and Mary Ann Gild traded a lot and house in Shepherdsville to H. C. and Susie Bowman for a 72 acre tract they owned down river from Shepherdsville on the south side. This tract lay close to where Bullitt's Run entered the river on the north side. This 72 acres had once belonged to Francis Maraman, and the division of his estate it came to his son MacHenry Maraman, and later to the Bowmans. The drawing below on the left shows part of the division of Francis Maraman's estate, and shows that MacHenry Maraman got the tract furtherest downstream in the big bend, and is shown better on the top right drawing. The bottom right image is a clip from a topo map showing the location of this land in relation to Shepherdsville.

Bullitt County Deed Book U, Pages 81-82

This indenture made and entered into this 10th day of August 1874 between H. C. Bowman and Susie E. Bowman his wife of the first part and Andon Gill of the second part, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky.

Witnesseth that the first parties in consideration of a conveyance to the first party, Susie E. Bowman of a house and lot in Shepherdsville, No. 54 on Water Street and School Alley, formerly conveyed by W. H. Walden and wife to the first party by deed recorded in Deed Book T, page 183, and the further consideration of $50 evidenced by note this day executed due in two months, but no lien is retained or held on the land here conveyed, they the first parties have this day and do hereby sell, convey and deliver unto the second the following tract of land, to wit.

A tract of 72 acres of land more or less lying in Bullitt County, Kentucky on the waters of Salt River on the south bank thereof about one mile below Shepherdsville, and the same allotted to Mack Maraman in the division of the lands of Francis Maraman dec'd, recorded in Will Book F, page 319, bounded as follows.

Beginning at two hickories in division line between F. Maraman's heirs and Moore, thence with their division line South 61° West 50 poles to a stake in Bowman's line, division corner between said Moore and F. Maraman heirs, thence with Bowman's line North 54° West 173 poles to a stake on the bank of Salt River, thence up the river with its meanders to the mouth of the branch above the Wat Maraman house, thence up the branch to two sycamores in said branch, thence South 42° East 202 poles to the beginning.

The legal title in the above title of land is in Susie E. Bowman, and the fee simple title and all title vested in the first parties, and both of them, is hereby conveyed, and all right of homestead and every interest is passed by this conveyance.

And the first parties hereby convenant to and with the second party that they will and their heirs shall forever warrant and defend the title to the tract of land herein conveyed unto the second and his heirs forever against all claims by general warranty.
