Alcenia Joyce to Robert F. Samuels - 300 Acres

On 24 Jul 1855, Alcenia Joyce, widow of William Joyce, sold her life estate in his farm to Robert F. Samuels after she moved to Arkansas with her son, also named William. The location of this farm is not yet determined.

This indenture made and entered into this 24th day of July 1855 between Alcenia Joyce of the town of Jacksonsport and statee of Arkansas of the first part and Robert F. Samuels of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the second part.

Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of $673 cash in hand paid by the party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, she the said party of the first part hath this day bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part, his heirs &c all her right, title and interest in and to a tract of land lying in the said county of Bullitt given to William Joyce, now deceased, formerly husband of the said party of the first part by his father, Thomas Joyce, her interest in said tract which contains 300 acres, being a life estate of one-third the same.

To have and to hold the said before described interest and dower estate unto the said party of the second part, his heirs for and during the natural life of the said party of the first part, and the said last named party hereby covenants and agrees that to the the extent of her interest before recited she will warrant, defend and assure the same to the said party of the second part.
