Alonzo C. Kinnison to Squire A. Rayman - 500 Acre Mortgage

On 7 Jun 1872, A. C. Kinnison mortgaged his home farm of 500 acres lying on the road from Shepherdsville to Pitt's Point for $1500, repayable over the next five years. On 27 Nov 1877, S. A. Rayman recorded that the debt had been repaid, and the lien released.

This deed of mortgage made this June 7, 1872 between A. C. Kinnison of the first part and Squire A. Rayman of the second part. Witnesseth that the first party has this day borrowed of the second party who is trustee for N. J. Harshfield the sum of $1500 payable as follows: $300 payable in 12 months, $300 payable and two years, $300 payable in three years, $300 payable in four years, $300 payable in five years, all bearing interest from this date at the rate of 10% per annum until paid, the entire interest due and payable at the end of every 12 months from this date and may be collected each year separately from this mortgage, and for which note this day is executed.

And the better to secure the payment of these sums, the first party hereby mortgages, puts in pledge, sells, conveys and delivers unto the second party the home farm of the first party, where he now lives, containing 500 acres more or less lying in Bullitt County, Kentucky on the waters of Salt River, on the road leading from Shepherdsville to Pitt's Point.

To have to hold the same; nevertheless should the first party well and truly pay said some of money at maturity, then this mortgage shall be null and void. Otherwise it shall remain in full force and virtue in law subject to foreclosing.

Witness the hand of the first party the 7th day of June 1872. The first party agrees that should this debt have to be made by suit or by enforcement of this lien he will pay the reasonable costs thereof and save the second party harmless. June7th 1872. (signed) A. C. Kinnison
