George Wilson's 564 Acre Tract

On 22 Jan 1785, George Wilson surveyed 564 acres of land for himself located in Jefferson County between Cedar Creek and Floyd's Fork, south of the 2000 acres he had surveyed for himself and David Mitchell. This 564 acre survey and deed are described below.

Surveyed for George Wilson assignee of Jacob Vanmeter 564 acres of land by virtue of part of a treasury warrant number 8571 upon Cedar Creek a branch of Floyd's Fork beginning at a black oak marked I V that stands on Froman's wagon road near the old Buffalo Road about 20 poles north of Cedar Creek, thence East 320 poles to two white oaks and red Oak, thence North 282 poles to a black oak two gums and sugar tree standing in a line of David Mitchell and George Wilson's survey of 2000 acres, thence West with their line 320 poles to their corner, mulberry, maple & dogwood standing in a line of Simon Triplet's survey of 2000 acres, thence with his line South 282 poles to the beginning. I hereby for value received of George Wilson assign over to him all my right title interest and claim of a certain entry of a 1000 acres of land made in my name in Mr. May's office in Jefferson County on the 19th day of December 1782 now containing 600 acres beginning at a black oak marked I V standing on the east side of Froman's wagon road near where the old Buffalo Road crosses the same, about 20 poles north of Cedar Creek, running thence East 320 poles, then North for quantity. Patrick Henry Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to all to whom these presents shall come, greeting. Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of part of a land office treasury warrant number 8571, and issued the 6th day of November 1781, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto George Wilson assignee of Jacob Vanmeter a certain tract or parcel of land containing 564 acres by survey bearing date the 22nd day of January 1785 lying and being in the county of Jefferson on Cedar Creek, a branch of Floyd's Fork, and bounded as followeth, to wit. Beginning at a black oak marked I V that stands on Froman's wagon road near the old Buffalo Road about 20 poles north of Cedar Creek, thence East 320 poles to two white oaks and red Oak, thence North 282 poles to a black oak two gums and sugar tree standing in a line of David Mitchell and George Wilson's survey of 2000 acres, thence West with their line 320 poles to their corner, mulberry, maple & dogwood standing in a line of Simon Triplet's survey of 2000 acres, thence with his line South 282 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances to the said George Wilson, and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said Patrick Henry Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the 2nd day of February in the year of our Lord 1786, and of the Commonwealth the 10th.
