Anna Brown West to John Dunn, 200 Acres

On 14 Apr 1798, James Ferry surveyed 400 acres along the Blue Lick Run for the heirs of Charles West, dec'd. They received a deed for this land on 21 Jun 1802. While they were awaiting the deed, Anna Brown West, heir of Charles West, sold half the land to John Dunn on 7 Mar 1802, as shown below.

This indenture made this 7th day of March 1802 between Anna Brown West, heir at law of Charles West of Loudon County and State of Virginia (by her attorney in fact John Peake) of the one part and John Dunn of Bullitt County and State of Kentucky of the other part, witnesseth that She the above named Anna Brown West (by her attorney aforesaid) hath bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto him the aforesaid John Dunn and his heirs forever all her right, title, claim and interest of in and to a certain tract or parcel of land in Bullitt County and State of Kentucky situate lying and being on the Blue Lick Run, a part of Charles West dec'd's 400 acre tract and bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at two hickory saplings, a red oak and white oak in the original line, thence S 45° E 160 poles to an ironwood and two beech trees on a hill (crossing Blue Lick run at 148 poles), thence S 45° W 200 poles to two white oaks and red oak in the head of a drain, thence N 45° W 160 poles to a stake in John Dunn's field (the original corner of two walnuts and hickory being down), thence N 45° E 200 poles to the beginning, to have and to hold all and singular the above described tract of 200 acres of land with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the above named John Dunn and his heirs forever from her the above named Anna Brown West and her heirs forever. And she he above named Anna Brown West from herself and her heirs and from all and every the claim or claims of all and every person whatsoever unto him the above named John Dunn and his heirs forever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof she the above named Anna Brown West (by her attorney in face, John Peake) hath hereunto set her hand and affixed her seal the day and date above written. Note that he the aforesaid John Dunn has paid unto her the aforesaid Anna Brown West the full and just sum of five hundred dollars in consideration of the above mentioned tract of 200 acres of land, the receipt whereof she the aforesaid Anna Brown West (by her attorney in fact) doth hereby acknowledge and herself therewith fully satisfied. Bullitt County Sct I Thomas Speed, clerk of the court of the county of Bullitt, do certify that on the 21st day of June 1802 the foregoing indenture was proved before me to be the act and deed of the within named Anna Brown West by John Peake her attorney in fact by the oaths of James Shanks, Abraham Settles and Richard Shanklin, subscribing witnesses thereof and that the same is recorded in my office.
