On 10 Dec 1835, by virtue of a Circuit Court order, Sheriff James Samuels sold the farm belonging to Thomas and Felix Shain at auction to Robert F. Samuels, as shown below.

Whereas on the 19th day of March 1831, there issued from the clerk's office of the Bullitt Circuit Court an execution Fieri facias of that date in the name of John Pope against the estates of Thomas Shain and Felix G. Shain for the sum of $217.17 with interest thereon after the rate of 6% per annum from the 22nd day of November 1830 till paid and 45 and one half cents costs which said execution is number 1115 issued to May rules 1831, directed to the sheriff of Bullitt County and endorsed by the clerk of said court that the same issued upon a replevin bond and no security of any kind to be taken; which said execution afterwards to-wit on the day of the date thereof came regularly to the hands of Abner Gore, deputy for James Samuels, sheriff of Bullitt County who thereupon made the following return to-wit.
"Levied May the 18th 1831 on all the interest which Thomas Shain and Felix G. Shain has in the farm on which they now live and not time to sell under this execution. A. Gore, D.S.B.C."
And whereas also afterwards to-wit on the 9th day of September 1831 and execution venditioni exponas issued from the clerk's office of the Bullitt Circuit Court in the name of the said John Pope against the said Thomas and Felix G. Shain directed to the sheriff of Bullitt County commanding him to expose to sale the estate of Thomas Shain and Felix G. Shain consisting of their interest in the farm on which they lived to the amount of $217.17 with interest from 22nd November 1830 till paid and 91 cents costs to satisfy John Pope, the said sums which said last mentioned execution is number 298 returnable to the September rules 1831 on which the clerk of said court endorsed that the said execution issued on replevin bond and no security of any kind was to be taken which said execution afterwards to-wit on the 9th day of September 1831, on the day of the date thereof came regularly to the hands of the said Abner Gore, deputy as aforesaid, who thereupon made the following return.
"By virtue of this execution I did on the 21st of November 1831, being court day, sell the premises within mentioned at the courthouse door in Shepherdsville, and Robert F. Samuels became the purchaser for the sum of seven dollars, the said premises being valued by N. C. Summers and John Purcell at six dollars per acre, deducted sheriff's commission, leaves a credit of $6.65 (see return of commissioner enclosed) A. Gore, D.S. for James Samuels, S.B.C."
Now therefore this indenture made this tenth day of December in the year of Christ 1835 between James Samuels, late sheriff of Bullitt County, Kentucky of the one part and Robert F. Samuels, both of Bullitt County and state aforesaid.
Witnesseth that the said James Samuels, late sheriff as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of $7, the amount of the bid and purchase money paid by the said Robert F. Samuels for the land aforesaid sold under the said last mentioned execution and by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by law, have given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do sell, and convey unto the said Robert F. Samuels, his heirs and assigns forever, all the right, title, claim and interest of Thomas Shain and Felix G. Shain in and to the farm on which the said Thomas Shain and Felix G. Shain lived at the time of the levy and sale under the execution aforesaid, lying on Long Lick in Bullitt County, with all and singular the appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Robert F. Samuels, his heirs and assigns forever.
And the said James Samuels does hereby covenant to and with the said Robert F. Samuels that the interest of the said Thomas Shain and Felix F. Samuels in and to the farm or tract of land and appurtenances hereby conveyed, he will forever warrant and defend to the said Robert F. Samuels, his heirs &c as fully and effectually as he by law and the power vested in him as sheriff may do, without rendering himself individually responsible for the title to said land.
In testimony whereof the said James Samuels, late sheriff as aforesaid, has hereto set his hand and affixes his seal on the said tenth day of December in the year of Christ 1835. (signed by sheriff)
