Summers & Thompson to Richard P. Simmons - A Shepherdsville Lot

In 1842, Noah Summers and John Thompson sold their interest in Shepherdsville lot 34 to Richard P. Simmons. It is a quit claim deed, indicating that there might be other claims to the lot. This is the earliest deed we have found for this lot.

This indenture made this 18th day of March 1842 between Noah C. Summers and Margaret his wife, and John J. Thompson of one part, and Richard P. Simmons of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Summers and Thompson for and in consideration of the sum of $7.50 to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, they the said Summers and Thompson have sold, and by these present do sell and convey unto the said Richard P. Simmons and to his heirs and assigns forever a certain half acre lot of ground in the new plan of said town thirty four, with its appurtenances, and said Noah C. Summers and John J. Thompson covenant and agree to and with said Richard P. Simmons to warrant and defend the title of said lot No. 34 and appurtenances unto him the said Richard P. Simmons and to his heirs forever against the claims of all persons whatever claiming by, from, through or under us, but against no other person or title, it being understood this is a quit claim title without warranty except against under us and heirs &c as aforesaid; and in case the lot and appurtenances is lost by any other claim whatever we are in no event whatever to be bound to restore the purchase money.
