Shepherdsville 1870 Expansion

On February 18, 1870 the General Assembly approved an act to extend the corporate limits of Shepherdsville. We have transcribed this act below.

CHAPTER 351.

AN ACT to amend the Charter of the Town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That the corporate limits of the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt county, Kentucky, be extended, so as to include in said town Oxley's Paroquette addition thereto, and the seminary house and lot, on the east, and on the west to include the land purchased by William R. Thompson and Wesley Phelps, under decree of the Bullitt circuit court, in case of G. W. Bowman's administrator against Frederick Travis's heirs, and running to the eastern line of the farm now owned by H. H. Field, and with said line to the Bullitt's Lick Road, and with said road to where it intersects the road leading from Shepherdsville to Louisville; thence to the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, so as to include within the town all the land lying south of where George Field now lives.

§ 2. That the trustees of said town shall have power to tax retail and wholesale vendors of ardent spirits by license in said town, not, however, exceeding the amount now paid the State for license to vend ardent spirits: Provided, however. That said trustees shall have no power to license the vending of ardent spirits within said town.

§ 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
