1832 Shepherdsville Town Trustees Election

Recently we discovered in Deed Book G, pages 387-388, the following election results.

The candidates are listed below. The capital letter preceding each name is used to identify him in the voting chart below.

A. Robert F. Samuels
B. John Holsclaw
C. Matthew Wilson
D. Rufus K. Summers
E. Frederic G. Alexander
F. George F. Pope

We have attempted to duplicate the chart as it was written in the deed book. It appears that each voter announced his five choices, and the election clerk kept a running total as each voter's choices were listed.

"Polls of an election held at the courthouse in Shepherdsville on Monday the 6th day of August 1832, being the 1st Monday in said month, for the purpose of electing five fit persons legally qualified to serve as Trustees for said town from the time of their election until the first Monday in August 1833."
