Robert F. Samuels, Bullitt County Court Clerk, wrote his will 16 May 1861. It was recorded 25 Feb 1862.

In the name of God, amen. I Robert F. Samuels of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, being weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make, ordain, publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made.
1st. I desire the payment of all my debts and liabilities.
2nd. I will and devise unto my beloved wife, Melinda Samuels, my house and lot in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, the same at present occupied by me, and purchased of Noah C. Summers. Also my Negro woman Martha and her child Hattie and her future increase with full power to sell or dispose of the same in any way she may deem best. I also will and devise unto my said wide my buggy and horse Bill; also my cattle, household and kitchen furniture of any description.
3rd. I will the balance of my estate to be equally divided between my two sons, Charles R. Samuels and Joseph B. Samuels and my daughter-in-law Kate Samuels, the wife of my son William T. Samuels.
Lastly, I hereby appoint my son Charles R. Samuels executor of this my last will and testament with full power to convey my lands or lots that I have may have sold and for which in consequence have been made.
Witness my hand and seal this 16th day of May 1861.

State of Kentucky, Bullitt County, Sct. I Charles R. Samuels, clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid, do certify that on the 16th day of May 1861 the foregoing will and testament of Robert F. Samuels deceased was produced in open court for record and was proven by the oath of Wesley Phelps and W. J. Colbow to be the last will and testament of said decedent, whereupon the same was examined and approved of and ordered to be recorded, which together with this certificate is truly done in my office this 25th day of February 1862.
