On 6 Nov 1838, Robert F. Samuels sold about 109 acres along Long Lick Creek to James C. Hogland. This was land he had purchased to foreclose a mortgage taken by Francis D. Blandford to the Bank of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

This indenture made and entered into the sixth day of November 1838 between Robert F. Samuels and Malinda, his wife of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and James C. Hogland of the same county and state of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Robert F. Samuels and wife for and in consideration of the sum of $75 part paid, and the balance secured to be paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the said Robert F. Samuels and wife have sold and do by these presents sell and convey to the said James C. Hogland a certain tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the county on the head waters of Long Lick Creek, part of 525 acres patented in the name of John Overall containing 108 3/4 acres, and being the same mortgaged by Francis D. Blandford to the Bank of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and purchased by said Samuels at the commissioner's sale to foreclose the mortgage.
To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land containing 108 3/4 acres of land unto the said James C. Hogland, his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of the said Robert F. Samuels, his heirs and assigns forever; and it is understood and the said Robert F Samuels binds himself, his heirs &c that if the said tract of land is lost by any prior or better claim within seven years from the fifth day of April 1837, to pay back and refund to the said Hogland the purchase money without interest. In testimony, whereof the sad Robert F. Samuels and Malinda, his wife have hereto set their hands and seals the day and year first written. (signed) Robert F. Samuels, Malinda Samuels
