Surveyed for Adam Shepherd 750 acres of land in Bullitt County by virtue of parts of an entry of 1850 acres made bearing date November 29th 1785 on part of a treasury warrant No. 21881, beginning at [A] a red oak and hickory on the top of a knob, thence S 52° E 455 poles to [B] 2 beeches, thence S 38° W 330 poles to [C] 3 beeches, thence N 69° W 216 poles to [D] 2 beeches, thence N 6° E 460 poles to the beginning. September 22nd 1798. James Shanks, S.B.C.
I hereby assign one half of the within described land to James Shanks and desire that a patent issue accordingly. (signed) Adam Shepherd. Teste: David Phelps.

James Garrard, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting. Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of part of a land office treasury warrant No. 21881 and entered the 29th day of November 1785, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Adam Shepherd and James Shanks, assignee of Adam Shepherd for one moiety a certain tract or parcel of land containing seven hundred and fifty acres by survey bearing date the twenty second day of September, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-eight, lying and being in the County of Bullitt and bounded as followeth, to wit. Beginning at a red oak and hickory on the top of a knob, thence South fifty two degrees East four hundred and fifty five poles to two beeches, thence South thirty eight degrees West three hundred and thirty poles to three beeches, thence North sixty-nine degrees West two hundred and sixteen poles to two beeches, thence North six degrees East four hundred and sixty poles to the beginning, with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Adam Shepherd and James Shanks and their heirs forever. In witness whereof the said James Garrard, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky hath hereunto set his hand and caused the seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the twenty first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and of the Commonwealth the ninth.
