Adam Shepherd's 300 Acre Survey on Knob Creek

On 10 Sep 1790, James Shanks surveyed 300 acres on Knob Creek for Adam Shepherd who received his deed to the land on 16 Jun 1800.

Surveyed for Adam Shepherd 300 acres of land in Bullitt County by virtue of a treasury warrant No. 10541 entered the 14th November 1783 on Knob Creek, beginning at [A] an ash, sugar tree and 2 beeches on the lower side of a run close to the foot of a knob at the mouth of said run, thence up Knob Creek and binding thereon 174 poles to [B] 2 beeches, thence East 185 poles to [C] a beech and dogwood in a line of Shepherd's 1000 acre survey (passing Shepherd's corner at 94 poles), thence South 193 poles to [D] 2 beeches, thence West 92 poles to [E] 2 beeches and sugar trees on the foot of a knob, thence North 72°12' West 167 poles to [A] the beginning. Deed

James Garrard, Esquire, governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, to all to whom these presents shall come, greeting. Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of a treasury warrant number 10541 and entered the 14th day of November 1783, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Adam Shepard, a certain tract or parcel of land containing 300 acres by survey bearing date the 18th day of September 1798 lying and being in the county of Bullitt on Knob Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit.

Beginning at an ash, sugar tree and 2 beeches on the lower side of a run close to the foot of a knob at the mouth of said run, thence up Knob Creek and binding thereon 174 poles to 2 beeches, thence East 185 poles to a beech and dogwood in a line of Shepherd's 1000 acre survey (passing Shepherd's corner at 94 poles), thence South 193 poles to 2 beeches, thence West 92 poles to 2 beeches and sugar trees on the foot of a knob, thence North 72°12' West 167 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances.

To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Adam Shepherd and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said James Garrard Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the 16th day of June in the year of our Lord 1800, and of the Commonwealth the ninth.
