Heirs of Lynaugh Helm's 194 Acre Tract

John Ferry surveyed a 194 acre tract for the heirs of Lynaugh Helm on 25 Nov 1797 based on an entry dated 8 Dec 1783. The heirs received their deed from the state on 17 Mar 1800.


Survey

November the 25, 1797 Surveyed for the heirs of Lynaugh Helm one hundred and ninety four acres of land in Bullitt County entered December the 8th 1783 on the north side of Salt River, beginning at the northeast corner of Peter Shepherd's 900 acre survey at three elm stumps, and running with reuben Case's line North 37° East 116 poles to a beech at the foot of the nobs, thence binding with the same South 70° East 343 poles to three hickorys a corner to the lands of William Allen and in line of Thomas McGee, thence with his line S 55° W 48 poles to a red oak on a line of Peter Shepherd's 900 acre survey, thence with Shepherd's line North 35° West 396 poles to the beginning. Deed

James Garrard, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, to all to whom these presents shall come, greeting. Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of a treasury warrant No. __ and entered the eighth day of December one thousand seven hundred and eighty three, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the heirs of Lynaugh Helm a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and ninety four acres by survey bearing date the twenty fifth day of November one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven, lying and being in the County of Bullitt on the north side of Salt River and bounded as followeth, to wit. Beginning at the northeast corner of Peter Shepherd's 900 acre survey at three elm stumps, and running with reuben Case's line North 37° East 116 poles to a beech at the foot of the nobs, thence binding with the same South 70° East 343 poles to three hickorys a corner to the lands of William Allen and in line of Thomas McGee, thence with his line S 55° W 48 poles to a red oak on a line of Peter Shepherd's 900 acre survey, thence with Shepherd's line North 35° West 396 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances to the said Heirs of Lynaugh Helm and their heirs forever. In witness whereof the said James Garrard, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the seventeenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and of the Commonwealth the eighth.
