On 9 Dec 1785, John Helm surveyed 3125 acres along Knob Creek for Luke Wheeler as shown below. Wheeler received his deed to the land on 23 Mar 1799.

Surveyed for Luke Wheeler 3125 acres of land by virtue of a treasury warrant No. 9101 in Jefferson County on the waters of Pond Creek, a northern branch of Salt River adjoining Thomas Dorcey's 3125 acre survey on the northeast and Samuel Chace 3125 acre survey on the northwest. Beginning at the most eastwardly corner of the former (being the most westwardly corner of the latter), a sugar tree and two ashes on the south side of a branch, thence with Dorcey's line N 35° W 410 poles to his corner, three beeches in a bottom, thence N 55° E 1220 poles to a poplar, chestnut oak and gum, thence S 35° E 410 poles to two dogwoods and beech on the north side of a ridge, corner to said Chace's survey, thence with a line thereof S55° W 1220 poles to the beginning.
