Recently we discovered in Deed Book F, pages 206-7, the following election results. At that time Mt. Washington was still called Mount Vernon.
The candidates are listed below. The capital letter preceding each name is used to identify him in the voting chart below.

We have attempted to duplicate the chart as it was written in the deed book. It appears that each voter announced his five choices, and the election clerk kept a running total as each voter's choices were listed.

The entry concluded with this statement: "I hereby certify this to be a correct statement of the polls at the election for trustees for the town of Mt. Vernon, Bullitt County, Ky., and that the following gentlemen are duly elected trustees for the present year, to-wit, William Barnes, Peyton Burditt, Thomas Bowen, Abraham Jobe and William Greathouse. Given under my hand this 14th August 1826. Att. J. H. Myers, clerk."

Admission is free. The museum, as part of the Bullitt County Genealogical Society, is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization and is classified as a 509(a)2 public charity.
