John P. Anderson to Dr. Samuel A. McKay, as Trustee

On 2 Oct 1856, John P. Anderson assigned to Dr. Samuel A. McKay, as trustee, his slaves and the part of his father's estate coming to him in return for McKay seeing to the payment of Anderson's debts, and using the balance available in support of his wife Mary Ann Anderson and their daughter Ruanna. The reason for this arrangement is unclear; however John would die in 1870, and this arrangement would serve in place of his will.
