Charles & Margaret Hoke to Thornton B. Curry
Paroquet Springs Property, 1881

Thornton B. Curry gained ownership of the Paroquet Spring property from the others who shared ownership with him. A transcription of the deed is provided below, followed by an image of it.

This deed of conveyance made and entered into this 3rd day of February 1880 between Charles C. Hoke and his wife Margaret J. Hoke of City of Louisville, county of Jefferson Co. Ky. party of the first part and Thornton B. Curry of county and state aforesaid party of the second part, witnesseth:

The said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of five thousand one hundred and thirty dollars, eleven hundred and forty dollars cash in hand and the additional consideration that said T. B. Curry of the second part will pay certain lien notes as mentioned in a deed to me from Terry's executors, Bennett Bros Furniture Manufacturing Company, S. P. Myers and T. B. Curry (the said second party). Also to Bennett Bros Furniture Manufacturing Company the $570.00 mentioned as cash payment, do hereby sell and convey to the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns the following described property, to wit:

A certain tract of land in Bullitt County, Ky. known as the Paroquet Springs property with all the furniture, improvements and appurtenances belonging to the same, the said tract of land being about one hundred and ninety acres more or less and being all that I purchased at a sale Oct. 20th 1879, said sale being made by Mr. S. P. Myers, John Terry's executors, T. B. Curry and Bennett Bros Manufacturing Co., and its is expressly agreed and understood that all of the indebtedness remaining unpaid in said deed from the above mentioned parties to me is to be paid by said T. B. Curry, and that I convey all of my interest and all that I received by reason of said purchase and only convey such interest as I received. To have and to hold the same, together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever.

I Wm E. Loran, Clerk of the County Court for the county and state aforesaid, certify that the foregoing deed of conveyance from C. C. Hoke and Margaret J. his wife to Thornton B. Curry was on the 4th day of February 1880 produced to me in said county, and acknowledged before me by C. C. Hoke and Margaret J. his wife, parties and grantors thereto, to be their act and deed, all of which is hereby certified to the proper office for record. Loran, Clerk of the County Court for the county and state within, do certify that on this day the foregoing deed was again produced to me in my office and again acknowledged and delivered by C. C.
