On 20 Apr 1854, Theodocia Purcell purchased two Shepherdsville lots from Thomas Gore, moving there from her home along Crooked Creek.

This indenture made and entered into this the 20th day of April 1854 between Thomas S. Gore and Nancy Jane Gore, his wife of Bullitt County, Kentucky of the one part and Theodocia Purcell of the county and state aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Thomas S. Gore and Nancy his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of $700 to them in hand paid by the said Theodocia Purcell, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, and convey unto the said Theodocia Purcell two lots in the town of Shepherdsville upon which the said Gore and wife now reside; one of said lots being the same the said Gore purchased of James White and wife, and recorded in deed book M page 329, the other the same he purchased under a degree in the name of B. F. Summers versus Simmons and Crost's heirs and conveyed to him by R. F. Samuels, commissioner, and recorded in deed book M page 347.
To have and to hold the said two lots with their appurtenances unto the said Theodocia Purcell, to her and her heirs forever, and th said Gore and wife do hereby warrant and defend the title to said lots to the said Theodocia Purcell and her heirs forever by deed of General Warranty. In testimony whereof the said Thomas S. Gore and Nancy Jane his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written. (signed) Thomas S. Gore, Nancy J. Gore.
