Bullitt County History

Bray Family Bible Images

This Bible was found on a screened porch of an abandoned house in northern Bullitt County. Joe W. Chiles was kind enough to protect the Bible and bring it to the museum for preservation of the book and the genealogical information. We have scanned selected pages and placed them here.

The images above shows the back of the Bible and one of its title pages. Below is an image showing the spine.

The next three images show the Births, Deaths, and Marriages pages.

The next three images show pages from a small notepad found inside the Bible.

Also found in the Bible was some black lace...

a lock of hair...

and a receipt for $10 paid on 1 Aug 1912.

James and Slona Bray were living in Sloans Valley, Pulaski County, Kentucky during the 1900 census. With them were two sons, Arthur and Milton L. Bray. Arthur's birth month/year was listed as Aug 1894; Milton's was May 1899 which agree with the information given above. We don't yet know how the Bible ended up where it was found.
