Using a treasury warrant in the name of George Hubblefield for 500 acres that had been transferred first to John Sanders, and then to Walter Daniel, Robert Daniel, heir at law to the deceased Walker Daniel, hired Robert Breckinridge to survey 400 acres located along Knob Creek, and adjoining tracts of William Johnston and Robert Daniel. The survey was completed on 2 Nov 1786. Then on 2 Apr 1789, Robert Daniel assigned the surveyed land to John Brown who received a deed for it on 7 Feb 1790.

Surveyed for Robert Daniel, heir at law to Walker Daniel deceased, of an entry made the 25th day of December 1783, on part of a treasury warrant No. 7495, lying in Jefferson County adjoining Johnston' survey at the mouth of Salt River, and two surveys of the said Daniel's, beginning at three beeches in Johnston's back line, 80 poles from his northeast corner, & running with the lines of the said Johnston and Daniel's surveys N 40° E 332 poles to a sugar tree and two beeches corner of the said Daniel's 1000 acre survey, thence with another line S 50° E 193 poles to a sugar tree & ash in siad line, S 40° W 332 poles crossing Knob Creek to an ash, white oak & dogwood corner of said Daniel's 505 acre survey and with the line thereof N 50° W 193 poles crossing Knob Creek to the beginning. I do hereby for value received assign unto John Brown a warrant & certificate of survey made in my name as hier at law to Walker Daniel deceased, containing four hundred acres of land in Jefferson County joining Johnston's survey at the mouth of Salt River & desire that a grant therefor may issue in his name. Beverly Randolph Esquire, governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to all to whom these presents shall come, greeting. Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of part of a land office treasury warrant number 7495 issued the 20th day of October 1784, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto John Brown, assignee of Robert Daniel heir at law to Walter Daniel, a certain tract or parcel of land containing 400 acres by survey bearing date the 2nd day of November 1786, lying and being in the county of Jefferson adjoining Johnston's survey at the mouth of Salt River and two surveys of the said Daniels, and bounded as followeth, to wit. beginning at three beeches in Johnston's back line, 80 poles from his northeast corner, & running with the lines of the said Johnston and Daniel's surveys North 40° East 332 poles to a sugar tree and two beeches corner of the said Daniel's 1000 acre survey, thence with another line South 50° East 193 poles to a sugar tree & ash in said line, South 40° West 332 poles crossing Knob Creek to an ash, white oak & dogwood corner of said Daniel's 505 acre survey and with the line thereof North 50° West 193 poles crossing Knob Creek to the beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said John Brown and his heirs forever.
