Gabriel Cox's Survey near Cox's Creek

On 29 Apr 1784, George May surveyed a tract of 790 acres above the mouth of Cox's Creek for Gabriel Cox who received his deed on 8 May 1786. We have attempted to plot this tract on a Google map below, along with a tract downstream patented in the names of David Mitchell and George Wilson.

Gabriel Cox sold the westernmost 200 acres of this 790 acre survey on the south side of Salt River to Henry Crist in 1803. He then sold 150 acres to Michael Troutman in 1805; and in 1809 his heirs would sell the rest of the survey to the heirs of William R. Owens.

It may be helpful, when viewing the original survey drawing below, to remember that the tract is actually located south of Salt River, and that the top of the drawing is generally south, rather than north.
