John & Margaret Givens to James Rooksby - Shepherdsville Lots 39-40 - Part 5

On 7 Sep 1880, R. J. Meyler sold this ground to Margaret Givens, and on 13 Apr 1881 Margaret and her husband John sold it to James Rooksby for a bay stallion, as shown below.

A month later, Rooksby sold it to Victor Bonnieville.


Bullitt County Deed Book X, Pages 121-122

This deed of conveyance made, entered into this 13th day of April 1881 by John Givens and Margaret Givens, his wife, of the first part and James Rooksby of the second part, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky.

Witnesseth that the parties of the first part for and in consideration of one bay stallion Adz this day delivered to them by the second party valued at $300, they the said John Givens and Margaret his wife hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey and deliver unto the second party, his heirs and assigns with covenant of general warranty the following described real estate in Bullitt County, state of Kentucky, viz. a house and lot and appurtenances thereon and belonging thereto, lying in the town of Shepherdsville on Main Street, being parts of lots Nos. 39 & 40 in the new plan of said town.

Beginning on Main Street at the southeast corner of said lot No. 40, thence with the line of the alley, North 83 1/2° West 198 feet, 11 inches to the southwest corner of lot No. 39 on School Alley. Thence with a line of said alley North 6 1/2° East 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches to a stake, thence South 83 1/2° East 198 feet, 11 inches to a stake on Main Street. Thence with a line of said street 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches to the beginning, being the same property conveyed to Margaret Givens of the first part by R. J. Meyler and wife on the 7th September 1880 to which deed reference is hereby made for more particular description of the said property, said deed recorded in Bullitt County Court Clerk's office in Deed Book W, page 576.

To have and to hold the same unto the said James Rooksby, his heirs and assigns forever. W. W. Zazio holds a balance of $70 mortgage debt on the premises herein conveyed and to secure said Rooksby from any loss or damage by reason thereof, the first parties hereby put in pledge to him the horse herein before described until same is fully paid and the said Rooksby covenants that he has a free and unencumbered title to the horse herein named and to make good said covenant a lien is retained on the premises herein conveyed Witness our hands this 13th April 1881.
