This obituary of Claude Morgan Crist appeared in The Pioneer News on 24 Aug 1934.
Mr. Claude M. Crist, age 68 years, a native of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, died after a short illness last Saturday night at 9:15 o'clock.
Mr. Crist left surviving a widow, Mrs. Ella Lewis Crist, and one daughter, Mrs. William B. Wilkinson.
For years he was a special agent for the Louisville Southern Railroad Company and was held in very high esteem by officials of the Company.
Mr. Crist was the third son of the late Dr. Henry Clay Crist of Bullitt County who was for years after the Civil War a prominent and successful physician at Shepherdsville and a younger brother of Dr. Charles Crist and Ben Crist. His father was the son of Gen. Henry Crist, one of the pioneer citizens of Bullitt County, who distinguished himself in the Indian Wars during the early history of Bullitt County, and who was the first member of Congress from the old fourth District which included Bullitt and adjacent counties.
Mr. Crist's younger sister, Hallie Crist, was the wife of John H. Logsdon, formerly L. & N. Depot agent at Shepherdsville and afterwards Supt. of the Eastern Division of the L. & N. R. R. Company, and one of the best liked men who ever lived in Bullitt Co. His elder sister was the late Kate Crist Straus, the wife of the late Franklin P. Straus, one of the ablest lawyers who ever practiced at the Bullitt County Bar.
Claud Crist spent his boyhood at Shepherdsville and is well remembered here by a host of old school mates and friends among our older citizens.
